Child's Wiz Scarf

By Barbara Deike

Materials: Tamm's 3 Ply, Maroon 1249 and Yellow 1205

The machine used was a Passap E6000 with no electronics, but any standard machine with a ribber can be used.

Use stitch size 6. With Maroon cast on over needles 25-26 using your favorite double-bed cast-on. Set the machine up for circular knitting.

Set row counter to 000.

Knit 4 rows.

Make eyelet on both front and back bed (to make holes for fringe) on the following needles:

Left 24, 20, 16, 12, 8, 4 Right 1, 5, 9, 13, 17, 21, 25 Total of 13 eyelets

Continue to knit in circular to RC 70.

Change to Yellow

Knit to RC 140.

Repeat color change until a total of 17 stripes are knitted. On last color change, knit to row 66 and set up eyelets as before.

Knit last 4 rows.

Bind off in your favorite way.

Fringe

Fringe can be knitted on the machine as well: Set machine up for double bed knitting.

Cast on needles left 30, 31 and right 30, 31 (leave needles between out of work)

Knit 112 rows in Maroon and 96 rows in Yellow. Remove from machine and clip one end. Yarn will unravel in measured strands.

Use 8 strands for each fringe starting with Maroon.

Hint: At each color change, pull down a length of yarn. This will help with weaving the yarn ends in later.

Also, at each color change, pick up the heel of a few stitches, about 8 to 10 spread across the knitting) to place on the opposite needle on the other bed. This connects the two layers prevents warping.
